APS parent company holding company spent more than $400k to Elect Brnovich
Phoenix – Today, January Contreras joins others in calling out current Attorney General Mark Brnovich for using the power of the Office of the Attorney General to interfere with the ballot language for Proposition 127, a citizen's initiative to increase use of renewable energy in Arizona. APS, and their parent company Pinnacle West, have been zealous opponents of Proposition 127 and have donated more than $400,000 to elect Mark Brnovich.
January Contreras, an experienced prosecutor and Democratic candidate for Attorney General, shared her concern, “APS spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to elect Mark Brnovich, is this what they get in return?” asked Contreras. “Our citizen's initiative process was created by our state's founders precisely to stop big donors from having too much power. Mark Brnovich is the poster child for the problem they were trying to solve. When the power of the Attorney General is used to play politics, Arizonans lose.”
January Contreras is a former Deputy County Attorney, Assistant Attorney General, and an experienced criminal prosecutor and a founder of a non-profit for abused and vulnerable kids and youth. She’s running for Attorney General to bring accountability and transparency back to our government, and to put the safety, financial security, and well-being of Arizonans first.
