PRESS RELEASE: January Contreras argues for consumers to have more control in robocall regulation

Updated: Jul 20, 2018

Phoenix, AZ – Today, January Contreras filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission, the organization responsible for regulating interstate and international communications, urging that consumers have the option to opt out of automated and robocalls that are ringless. The FCC is seeking feedback as they interpret regulations for robocalls, including ringless calls that go directly to voicemail boxes.

“I'm advocating for Arizona's consumers to have a choice to opt-out of communications they don't want to receive.  It's important that the voice of Arizonans are heard loud and clear,” said January Contreras. “I’ve heard far too many stories from people who have been overwhelmed by robocalls, the last thing they want is the alternative of their voicemail being filled with calls that they never even have the chance to decline. As the next Attorney General, I will work each day to enforce the laws that protect the safety, well-being and financial security of Arizonans.”
