Contreras calls on Brnovich to stand up for an immediate end to this policy
Phoenix, AZ – January Contreras, former prosecutor, Department of Homeland Security official, and founder of a legal aid center sent a letter today demanding that the Trump Administration end its policy of separating children from their parents at the border. She called on Mark Brnovich to join this action.
Yesterday, Attorneys Generals from 21 states pressed the Trump Administration to immediately reverse the harmful policies that are resulting in children being separated from their parents. Arizona was missing from this coalition of Attorneys General. Contreras corrected this lack of leadership by issuing a demand herself early this morning. See letter here.
“We’re witnessing a national tragedy unfold because too many politicians care more about politics than actual people, even babies and children,” said January Contreras. “I call on Brnovich to demand an immediate end to family separation at the border, as I and 21 Attorneys General have done. Until every single child is reunited with parents, we must be clear with this demand.”
“Mark Brnovich is part of the problem – he wrote an editorial praising Jeff Sessions as a model public servant, and he was the business development director for one of the country’s largest private prison industries, a company that is profiting enormously off of the Trump Administration’s draconian immigration policies. These are Brnovich’s people and policies, and if he doesn’t denounce them then we know he still supports them.”
