Phoenix – Today, the 47th Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced his endorsement of January Contreras for Arizona Attorney General. Vice President Biden, known for being a tireless champion for women's rights and author of the Violence Against Women Act, highlighted Contreras’s contributions to the law’s implementation.
"I'm endorsing January Contreras for Attorney General in Arizona because she's the real deal”, said Biden. “She's a fourth-generation Arizonan who loves her state enough to fight for it, and an attorney who uses the courtroom to protect the people of Arizona. January has fought for justice for victims as a county and state prosecutor, and she built a legal aid center from ground up to ensure that survivors of domestic violence and child abuse have a lawyer by their side."
Biden added, "January worked alongside my team and I when she served on the White House Council on Women and Girls, and led efforts to combat violence against women in the Obama-Biden Administration. I support January because she's exactly the type of tough and dedicated public servant who will put Arizona's families first as their Attorney General."
January Contreras commented, “I am proud to have the support of Vice President Biden -- someone who knows what it's like to follow a calling to public service and the protection of others. The people of Arizona deserve a champion. I'm grateful to have the support of a leader who puts people first, and I commit to doing the same as our next Attorney General.”
